Surprise Packages

Posted on 2nd February 2017 by Admin under Comment

I was digging around in an old camera bag hoping to find a lens cap.  Nothing doing in that regard, but I discovered something which astonished me.  Two unopened packs of Kodachrome.  Kodak ceased processing this iconic film in 2010 but, even if that were still possible, expiry dates of 1980 and 1984 would certainly mean unusable results.  It got me thinking, so I had a quick look at the sold listings on eBay.  Incredibly, there is a market for unused Kodachrome, with some films having older expiry dates than mine.  Other than for nostalgia, I can only wonder who is buying them and for what purpose.

Unless you’re holding them for nostalgic reasons what not try your luck on eBay?

They typically go for around £6 or £7 each on eBay, maybe a bit less in an auction. I am just as happy hanging onto the films for sentimental reasons.
